The concept of “Europe” goes far beyond its geographical connotation. When thinking about Europe, we have to take in consideration a wide range of points of view, representations and opinions in order to understand what the concept conveys. With this in mind, My Europe Short Film Festival was created to display, every year, different representations of Europe. Moreover, we intend to raise awareness for the short film production independently from their country of origin.
My Europe Film Festival was established by Citizens of Europe to approach the term Europe in an unusual way using the medium of film. Europe is not just a geographical or political category, it is the place where millions of people live. Their stories, problems and lifestyles are Europe for us. Filmmakers are like seismographs of society’s coming tensions and eruptions. By recent film productions we focus on issues that filmmakers move. If films are not dealing with Europe on first sight, the European dimension comes out of the comparison of stories, conflicts and topics. In the end there should be a colourful picture of “Our Europe” – each and every “My Europe”.
